With the increasing interest in environmental issues such as global warming,
and in line with increasingly stringent environmental regulations, the global shipping and
shipbuilding industries are increasingly interested in eco-friendly ship technologies.

The large-capacity energy storage system (ESS) for ships is a key equipment for supplying power to ships
and driving electric motors for propulsion, and is being actively developed around the world as an energy source to replace
the power generation method of the existing diesel generator, attracting attention as a next-generation ship energy source along with fuel cells.

The capacity of the ESS systems that store and supply electric power through batteries is increasing as
the size of ships increase, consuming more power, and as the battery capacity increases, it is essential to apply
a water cooling system for efficient thermal management, lifespan and stability of the equipment.
When seawater is used as a heat transfer fluid in such a water-cooled cooling system, frequent failures such as corrosion,
and malfunction of the equipment may occur due to salinity and marine organisms contained in seawater.

KDfinechem is actively developing optimum cooling water for efficient thermal management of
the ESSs for the prevention of corrosion and in consideration of electrical influence of metals.
